Horror isn't just for perverts and lowbrows anymore. Whether the undead pose a threat to serious art is unclear. What I'm more concerned about is the danger serious art poses to the undead.
Well, I did shudder a little at that Diablo Cody news. But it's hard to say why. I think the unbearable ironic cuteness of (oscar winner!) Diablo Cody is all wrong for real horror...not that there isn't self-consciousness and humor in those original movies, of course.
But my knowledge of her is just Juno and a few episodes of The United States of Tara (which I thought was pretty awful). I haven't seen Jennifer's Body.
Like Insidious, Jennifer's body is a movie I planed to see either on a Tuesday or at the Byrd. I never got around to it.
I just don't want Evil Dead remade. That movie seems like it's all about the making to me, and an actually budgeted re-made version just seems like a waste of time and money. Like remaking Psycho (but different).
