because this is the james franco blog

It has been observed that James Franco does not know that women write books.

Perhaps the bigger problem with his list is that it is terminally boring...

I would like to use this space to say I'm obsessed with Shirley Jackson and I anticipate being obsessed with Patricia Highsmith.

I feel ROBBED that I didn't know about Jackson sooner.

Amen. The Lottery is probably among the top three most widely read American short stories, right? I feel like everyone read that story in middle school. But I don't think enough people read her books.

Patricia Highsmith is great also. I read Slowly, Slowly, in the Wind when we were moving to Richmond. I'd like to read all her books. Maybe this will be The Summer of Murder.

Look! Women also don't write books about Hollywood.
